Comparing Love And Basketball

Decent Essays
Love and Basketball is by far my favorite movie. The movie is a story about how two young kids who love the game of basketball. Monica, the 11 year old girl, moves next door to Quincy, the 12 year old boy. They both have the same dreams to play in the NBA when they grew older. They lived next door to each other all the way thru high school, and then they began to go to the same school in college which is USC. This is my favorite movie because I can relate to meeting a High School Sweetheart just like Monica did. She was always fighting for what she loved to do. I fight for what I love to do as well. I feel like I can walk in her shoes as the movie went on and I could connect to it just as well. Even though Monica and Quincy had a love-hate

Aziz Ansari begins the article by discussing the fact that his father was able to decide on a wife quicker than he was once able to decide on where to dine during a business trip to Seattle. “Love is an endless mystery, for it has nothing else to explain it” a quote by Rabindranath Tagore, summarizes the themes implemented in “Hills like White Elephants” by Ernest Hemingway, and “What we Talk About When we Talk About Love” by Raymond Carver. These two stories, contain a husband and wife who attempt to decipher the meaning of love. Hemingway’s characters do this subliminally, whereas Carver’s character’s discuss the meaning in a much broader fashion. Both authors have similar writing strategies, but have a few differing literary techniques. These two aforementioned stories, use similar structures and setting, but contrast in their use of symbols, to convey the author’s negative attitudes of love through their themes.…
