In the brilliant film, Love and Basketball directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood she combines a sport genre with a drama. The movie follows two people that share a very similar strong passion for basketball. It begins when they’re kids after a girl who is played by co-lead actor “Sanaa Lathan” moves into the neighborhood of a young star played by co-lead actor “Omar Epps”. Their mutual passion for basketball is evident from the start. Not only is their shared passion obvious, but the audience is also able to notice that they have the “puppy love” in the very beginning as well. As they age they both aspire to take their talents to the next level. It just so happens that they find love while doing so. The plot for this film is a significant one…

My favorite movie is Love and Basketball. The way Sanaa Lathan plays the part of Monica is like they were one in the same. Hearing the name of the movie may have you thinking it is about the love of the game of basketball, when I'm reality it's about the love two high school kids have for each other and the love they share for basketball. Their love for basketball and one another are connected In a way. When they're on good terms they both have good games, but when every thing is wrong it…

They will be working as a CEO, an accountant, and even a business owner where she is extremely successful and independent financially. In spite of all her success, she still feels incomplete. In these movies, she either does not have a man or he’s the wrong man for her. On top of that, her family and friends constantly pressure her about her choices in men or on why she doesn’t have one. Two movies that exemplify this are The Perfect Guy and Something New. Both movies star Sanaa Lathan, an…

Three Track Phenomenon While thinking of the term “literary mixtape,” a mental list is developed of all the possible examples used to define the term. My mind travels to Brown Sugar when Sanaa Lathan and Taye Diggs first fell in love with hip-hop. I also think of the soul songs infused in the speeches of President Barack Obama. Maya Angelou’s mixtape is composed of her numerous speeches, poems and books, which moved the nations. Theopilus London once said, “Mixtapes are very personal, and they…

is better than the other, but both combined provide a better overall understanding of the lives the Youngers had to live, and as a result, audiences see more clearly into the terrible past African-Americans have experienced. As providing a public eye on discrimination was Hansberry’s intent with the play, this creative difference should be something she would have greatly appreciated. Works Cited "Bob Riley Quotes."
