The liquid fuel rocket was first created by Robert Goddard in 1926 in Auburn, Massachusetts. The idea for this invention cam from Robert Goddard being home schooled, and since he got a lot of free time he put that into exploring, experimenting, and wanting to explore space. To make the liquid fuel rocket first Goddard had to apply the scientific principle of the requirement of oxygen in space to create an explosion, making the need for more storage space for oxygen. Needing refrigeration to cool oxygen and turn into a liquid at -183 C (-297.4 F). Then he had to take gasoline and put that and the oxygen into fuel tanks. After that the two propellants are pumped into a combustion chamber where they combine and heat up causing an explosion. This is called a controlled explosion. The liquid fuel rocket is important today because it has helped the U.S. explore space and put things into earth's orbit like satellites, the ISS, or the Hubble Space Telescope. This invention has changed our lives in important ways like discovering whole other galaxies, giving people access to things like the GPS and phone communications worldwide. In addition, giving us all kinds of information about our own galaxy.
Liquid fuel rockets are still used today, needing an oxidizer and fuel to work. Today NASA is trying to use liquid Hydrogen as a fuel source because it is very light and extremely effective. In addition it burns with extreme intensity (5, 5000 ° F). When liquid hydrogen is combined with liquid oxygen, liquid hydrogen has the highest efficiency in relation to how much fuel is used, compared to any other rocket fuels.
