Diesel engines provide more power using less fuel compared to gasoline engines. On average, a "Diesel engine advantages about 20-30% better fuel economy than similar vehicles with a gasoline engine" (4 benefits of buying). Diesel vehicles get "6 to 8 more miles per gallon than similar weight …show more content…
This is beneficial because you spend less money on diesel and this evens out to the price tag of the vehicle. Diesel engines provide much more power and at the same time the vehicle uses less fuel. Diesel engines last longer than gasoline engines when they are pulling a heavy load, because their engines are built stronger. Due to the amount of torque a diesel engine can produce, they are the number one choice for pulling heavy loads up a hill. They are less likely to stall while going up the hill. Gas engines have to use a lot of fuel and power just to compare to diesels …show more content…
Even though this is is a really good point about how reliable a Diesel engine is there are a couple other good and important reasons to why Diesel engines are more reliable. Diesel engines prove that they are more reliable, because they can run almost three times longer than a gasoline engine. According to trucktrend, "Gas engines only last 100,000 to 200,000, but Diesel engines last 3 times longer than that" (Schifsky). Diesel engines last longer because they are built better than a gasoline engine. Since diesels operate on compressed air you do not have to worry about carbon monoxide and unburdened hydrocarbons forming in the crevices of the cylinder walls like they do in gas engines. Also Diesel engine parts are generally built stronger and the diesel fuel has superior liberating properties. Plus diesel vehicles never fail to start do to ignition problems, because they do not run off high voltage-ignition systems like gas
