How difficult can it be for immigrant parents or people residing in Mexico? “My parents could barely make a living, they worked long hour with little pay and they had to live in this barely standing house. They didn’t want their children to struggle like they did.” When was it that her parents decided to come to the U.S? “My mother was only a month pregnant when my father decided to leave their belongings and family behind so that I could be born in a state where there was opportunity for a bright future.” How did her parents manage to make a living in the U.S.? “My mother worked as a maid for this rich family and my father as their Gardner. They were given a little room at their house for two years and after that they saved up enough for an apartment.” How and what motivated her to become the great doctor she is today? “The sacrifices my parents had to make to give me a better future, and of course the privilege I had to become an American citizen. They would do the same thing for their children if they loved them, and if they had immigrants parents they would be more than appreciative towards them for making the sacrifice of coming over here with no financial means just to give them a better future. These “anchor babies” give just as much to this state as any regular American
