The book made me almost wish to see a glimpse into my future twenty-one years from now to see where I may be in my life. However, I would be somewat scared that I would see failure and lose all hope of pursuing my dreams, like Theo's brother Dimitrios. This book brings these concepts to the forefront of the readers' minds and forces them to answer the question of whether or not they believe there is free will or a fixed future. I feel as though many people have opposing views on this concept. We would like to believe we have free will because we prefer to be in control of our own lives. However, that may not very well be the case. Although it may be undesirable, we do seem to completely lose control of our lives at times. As we interviewed Sawyer, he expressed that his view on this debate is positively in favor of free will and it is evident that the entire book points toward the idea of free will to choose what we make our futures. As Theo defies his foreseen future, the audience sees that there is hope for the future always. The novel sends an upbeat and positive mesage about one's possible future and I really enjoyed that. All too often, books assigned for classes are boring, depressing, and end in tragedy or heartbreak.
