He said, “My son I believe you can complete this quest. The gods want you to travel to the west. You have to find the Krobo people of Ghana. They can help reverse this curse. The gods want the Ware people to become one with them. This is the only way our women can become fertile. We have to have children outside our tribe. The Krobo people are also blessed; their women are very fertile. That’s a gift their gods gave to them. You, Kafil, can make our people understand that it is ok to have children with another tribe. The gods believe that the Ware people disobey them because they do not marry outside our tribe. This is why they punished us: because we do not obey rules that are given. That’s why the gods told us not to eat the palava leaf anymore. Since you’re a man now, the gods want you to marry one of the Krobo woman and have a family. I asked the priest, “Why me? The priest told me he was expecting us. We asked him how he knew about our quest because our priest did not tell us about any Krobo priest. The Krobo priest told us that their gods told him about our arrival and he talked to his people about us coming. He said the only way they could help us is by living with the Krobo people for a couple of months and learning their traditions. I noticed the Krobos were very obedient. My friends were angry
