The reward for mastering the task would be a scholarship award. After months of disciplined practice, the moment finally came when the Jubilee Ringers stood before an audience and performed their piano selections. After the scholarship concert, several students asked “did I do well?”

One day Jesus was sitting on a mountain and began engaging his disciples with a series of stories that showed them the kind of people who would enter into the kingdom of heaven. One of those stories talked about doing well. He told of a man who was traveling to a distant country. Prior to leaving, he entrusted each of his servants with talents according to their abilities. He told them to occupy themselves by doing business with the talents until he returned.

The servants were given great responsibility, but the man was certain that they were capable of investing the talents and showing profit upon his return. When he returned, he was able to say, “well done” to all but one of the servants. The servant who received that smallest amount hid his talent in the ground and was unable to show any profit. Jubilee is a book written by Margaret Walker based on the life of her great, great grandmother, Elvira Dutton, known in the book as Vyry. It was at a time when slavery was still in the United States. Some of the things that happened in the book also happened in history, like the American Civil War, the emancipation of slaves by Abraham Lincoln, and the emergence of the infamous KKK or Ku Klux Klan. The first part of the story told about Vyry’s struggle during her time as a slave. This story kept going on until the bloodiest war in the history of the United States, the Civil War broke out, which will end with the victory of the North, the death of both her master and his wife and the emancipation of slavery.…

They give us hope and push us to try to overcome obstacles even if we know the outcome is impossible to obtain. Even though we don’t always accomplish what we were hoping for at least you know that you tried and they may lead to other things that we can gain. We were made for greater things in life and dreams help us picture how we want to change the world. There are many examples of this idea in both War Dance and Of Mice and Men…

Many coins have been taken out despite the rough life many Indians had to suffer to produce them. The point of view in this document was very interesting seeing as it was written by Antonio Vázquez, a Spanish priest. This is interesting because he seems to sympathize with the poor laborers even though he himself is well off in society. He also seems to be against the mass silver production because of what it is doing to their lives and also is concerned by the sneaking of silver. Finally, in Document 1, it discusses the difference poor and rich have with silver and that the “frugal” man was careful with his because it is so scarce and he had to be.…

There was some issues brought against Socrates at his trial some of them included: not recognizing the gods of Athens, introducing new gods, and corrupting the youth. In the actual trial of Socrates he was found guilty but if I was an Athenian jury back then I would have voted not guilty for three reasons: the gods that he was speaking to the youth about were the children of Athens gods, the youth in Athens weren’t being forced to listen to Socrates, and he wasn’t being paid to teach people about these gods so nobody was being forced to listen to him. Socrates parents were members of the class of skilled artisans, who, in the period of just ten years after the Persian Wars, were beginning to achieve prominence. It was the class that created…
