War Dance And Of Mice And Men: Film Analysis

Dreams are a powerful force that push us to accomplish amazing things even in the face of doubt and discouragement. They give us hope and push us to try to overcome obstacles even if we know the outcome is impossible to obtain. Even though we don’t always accomplish what we were hoping for at least you know that you tried and they may lead to other things that we can gain. We were made for greater things in life and dreams help us picture how we want to change the world. There are many examples of this idea in both War Dance and Of Mice and Men For example, In the documentary War Dance, three children who live in a refugee camp are interviewed. The children live in the refugee camp because they are victims of a violent rebel army in Uganda and their tribe was forced to abruptly flee their homes to escape the brutality of the rebel army. Despite the meager conditions they live in, the children’s school train to compete in the national music competition. The children train day after day to win the competition. Having the opportunity to compete in this competition could very well be the best thing that has happened to them in their entire lives. However, the competition is incredibly stiff and it is highly doubtful the children from the refugee camp will win any awards. But in the end the children end up winning one section of the competition and Dominic receives an award for best xylophone player in Uganda. Even though it seemed impossible given his conditions that he grew up in he faced the challenge and achieved his dream. The children’s dreams gave them hope amidst all of the violence and destruction which led to a future in music and education.

Of Mice and Men is a story about two poor farm hands named George and Lennie who lived during The Great Depression and traveled together with a dream of one day getting their own farm
