First, in this situation there is a weekend gathering discussing a blow up during a meeting between Jerri Caldwell and her manager; this situation brings some very important issues the company is facing to light. Some of the stakeholders in this case are Jerri Caldwell, Jeff Fairbanks, Bonita Harriman, CJ Roberts, Raeford Marshall and MOEX, Inc. Jerri is a black, female engineer at MOEX. She has been passed over for a promotion, for the third time and has worked very hard to perfect her proficiency, leadership, and teamwork skills; but has been told that she is still lacking. Bonita, CJ, and Raeford are black engineers that even after years of employment with MOEX, are still in entry level positions. Jeff Fairbanks, is a family friend of …show more content…
Addressing the first problem, the company has traditionally been known as a conservative company, with the majority of its employees consisting of white males in their thirties. Jeff Fairbanks has worked his way up in the organization to the position of VP of Strategic HR, but despite his position, he seems to be hesitant to handle the situation. This move can be interpreted that he does not want to tarnish his image and/or make all his hard work go to waste. MOEX was also denied a government contract due to the fact the company failed to meet basic affirmative action guidelines. With the other problem being communication, or lack thereof, the minority employees may feel a sense of distance from management as compared to those who aren’t considered minorities.
