Proctor was an important figure in the community and he was respected by almost everyone, but he also had lots of pride in his name and reputation. He was a well respected man with what seemed like great morals and values but he had some hidden sin, that if revealed, would have damaged his reputation in the village, and people would not have respected him as they did. One thing that John Proctor had going for him was that he had great common sense. If

In my opinion john proctor is not a tragic hero. Simply because how is he a hero when he did not really save anyone. The Crucible The most admirable in the play is John Proctor, a local farmer and husband of Elizabeth Proctor. The reason I believed he’s admirable because he took the time to investigate the situation, and did not just take other people’s word for it. He had a lot to lose, it was his wife also being accused. The message Miller portrayed through this character is courage to tell the truth, and stand for what is right and just. John Proctor had an affair with Abigail, and even though that was a sin, he understood that witchcraft was a different offense to God.…

His struggle between right and wrong, and his pride causes him to have a tragic fall. Which also makes John Proctor the perfect example of a tragic hero. “He need not have been a partisan of any faction in the town, but there is evidence to suggest that he had a sharp and biting way with hypocrites. He was the kind of man - powerful of body, even-tempered, and not easily led - who cannot refuse support to partisans with-out…
