(Jake didn't really care to engage in conversation with Ric. He didn't hate him. The guy just annoyed the hell out of Jake. The way Ric felt he was better than Jake. Jake knew Ric loved Elizabeth. He just wondered if Ric was more towards trying to 'win' her. In Jake's mind, Elizabeth wasn't a prize. She was a beautiful, intelligent woman who could do anything she set her mind to. Jake personally didn't know what Elizabeth saw in Lansing. The guy was a snake. The stories Carly told him didn't paint Ric in the best light. Elizabeth always tried to see the good in others, even though they didn't always deserve it)

(The smug look on Ric's face told Jake the lawyer was up to something. Honestly, Jake didn't care what it was. He knew Ric would tell him, though. Jake debated whether to play along. The decision was decided for him when Ric spoke)

You?"

(He smiles smugly and shakes his head)

Ric: "Life couldn't get any better really. I've got a job I love, a wonderful daughter, and a beautiful girlfriend I have loved forever it seems."

Jake: (confused) "Girlfriend, huh?" (sighs) "I'm sure you are dying to tell me who the woman is."

Ric: (shrugs) "Isn't it obvious? It's Elizabeth." (nods) "She has given me another chance. I don't intend on ruining it, either."

(Jake folds his arms and tilts his head)

I’ve usually learned in hard way because frankly, I love to challenge myself to expand my personal capacity. Although I had already talked to one of my classmates about having interview with her as a Caucasian woman, I decided to do it with my cousin’s friend, Jacob, who I met in my place for the first time during Thanksgiving holidays. Interviewing Jacob about his interactions with other cultures has made me realize that I have a lot to learn about the meaning of the privilege and holding it. Jacob was a 24-year-old Caucasian, who lived in Missouri his entire life. Though he was visiting California for the second time in his life, he was in a Persian house for the first time.…

Ten years ago on a hot afternoon as my father filled the black twenty-gallon tanks of water, and the roar of the jake brake and the downshifting melody of the passing trucks filled the air. “Mijo ven y detén la manguera en lo que agarro Cambio” my dad yelled. Why me I asked myself as I stomped over to the truck and got farther from the fun. Pump, whish, screech, roar, and melody were sounds that I would hear while I held the lime green hose in place. After my dad had gotten the change in quarters and took over, I joined my cousin and my sister in a game of tag, again and hoped that he wouldn’t call me anymore so that I can continue having fun.…

There are three types of identity crisis: a temporary change of identity; no change at all, and a permanent change that isn’t reverted. Looking at the classic novels An Inspector Calls by J.B Priestly and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, we can see these are present in their characters. Of Mice and Men was first published in 1937, it is a poignant tale of a remarkable friendship between two peripatetic workers in the Great Depression years of 1930’s America. George is a small hardworking man and Lennie is his large, primitive friend; they both share a dream for land of their own; but when they find work on a California’s Salinas Valley, the dream is pushed to the utmost limit. An Inspector Calls was first published in 1992 by Tim Bezant;…

Throughout the course of the events described in the book, Brett consecutively goes back to Jake and opens up about her struggles with men and how she really would have liked to be with him. Similarly, however subtle it may be, Jake’s behavior seems to indicate a symptom of being unstable, represented how he and his friends consume so much alcohol without blinking an eye. Although it wasn’t recent, Jake’s behavior implies that he is emotionally affected from his injury from the war. An example is Jake’s constant need to sleep with Brett and be with her, but being prevented by it. Despite the fact that she seems to be what he needs to feel satisfied, Jake will never be able to be with her because he can’t consummate their…

Jake to me is not a very likeable character, despite of half of the story being in his head; it seems to me that he truthful, in tuned, unpleasant and a selfish. Spending so much time in his head, I feel he is missing out on the real joys of life. And the fact that he either doesn’t trust or want anyone to know who he is unsettling. I feel like he really doesn’t care that much for people, because he doesn’t feel like to be in the world where we are. Imagination is a good tool, but to live majority of your life in there, has to be disappointing.…
