Jake And His Arms: A Narrative Fiction

the response is sluggish; his arms slowly unwrap themselves from around jake. typically, it’s the other way around. jake will keep his arm wrapped around danny and in turn, he’ll press back and find comfort. tonight, it seems that wasn’t the story. instead, danny was crushing jake to his chest ... squeezing him too tight. it probably hurt jake a bit; the tightness. however, his subconscious was acting on it’s own with that; physically embodying the fear of losing him. a fear that’d almost came true earlier in the year.

his sigh is deep, drawn out as he acknowledges his mistake by holding him so tightly. it was fine. he was fine; they were fine. he has nothing to worry about. his worries were exaggerated; inflated by the reminiscences of the accident that remained in their lives. they were uncalled for ... but inarguable in his dreams where he couldn’t convince himself otherwise. “ ‘m sorry ... bad dream. ”

This is the difficult part for Ocelot. Not the fingering Kaz, but ignoring that his dick is hard as hell and his body is yelling to fuck him, to ravage him and to make him see stars, no, scratch that, to see goddamn galaxies. He's so beautiful like this, brain vs. body, brain fighting to keep his dignity and not respond and to be stronger than this, but his body, oh, his body is winning the battle, hand gripping the sheets and a bead of blood on his lip from how hard he's biting, eyes lidded but still fighting to stay open "How's this, Miller?" Ocelot says, trying for oblivious but coming out huskier than intended, lust tinting his vision and distorting his thoughts, the blood in his head roaring. "It's-oh God-…

Danny frequently 'had to be in control' (p.167) in his relationships with his teachers or Tom, which made it 'easy for people to slip into thinking he wasn’t violent' (p.171). Barker shows the readers that in many of his relationships Danny 'was very, very good at getting people to step across that invisible border'(p.168), like 'lambs to the slaughter' (p.168). That makes the border between getting professionally or personally involved with Danny very blurred. Many characters in the book, such as Martha, Tom, Angus and Mrs Greene, have noticed that line being crossed accidentally. By creating Danny's image to be manipulative and psychopathic, Barker makes the readers question if Danny has always been like this, or if these are survival qualities, passed onto him by his father and the jailing system.…
