Personal Narrative: Jake Brake

Ten years ago on a hot afternoon as my father filled the black twenty-gallon tanks of water, and the roar of the jake brake and the downshifting melody of the passing trucks filled the air. “Mijo ven y detén la manguera en lo que agarro Cambio” my dad yelled.Why me I asked myself as I stomped over to the truck and got farther from the fun. Pump, whish, screech, roar, and melody were sounds that I would hear while I held the lime green hose in place. After my dad had gotten the change in quarters and took over, I joined my cousin and my sister in a game of tag, again and hoped that he wouldn’t call me anymore so that I can continue having fun. I started counting 1,2,3,4,5,6, and seven trucks had passed by, but the seventh trailer truck Peterbilt class pulled over the roar of the engine, and the jake brake activated not to say the downshifting melody of the transmission gears declined, and the truck came to a stop it was Diego one of my dad’s friend's from his childhood.
“Ke onda wey Como as Estado?” my dad asked.
“Bien y tu,” his friend asked him.
“Bien ando con los chamakos cargando agua para el baño oye wey me das un ride a la gasolinera. se me kedo la troka sin gas?” my dad asked his friend.
“Si wey súbete al camión y Vamos” he responded
We went to the cruses and got the gas for the truck I was excited because this was the first time that anything like this so I was excited but, my dad, on the other hand, he wasn’t happy nor mad.
As my dad filled the truck with gas I was playing with my cousin and my sister we played touch then we hear “ya me voy” we ran to the truck and hopped into the truck.
“Se asustaron?,” asked my dad.
“No” me my cousin and my sister answered together.
“Mentirosos si se asustaron,” my dad responded.
“ no bueno yo no pero tal vez ellas si” I
