Segregation was when blacks were separated from whites and they had to attend different schools,use different bathrooms, and use different water fountains. Segregation broke the 14th amendment and a lot of the stuff was not equal also segregation caused lot of racism, but some may argue that it was equal. Segregation Is one of the darkest things in American history
To begin with segregation was unconstitutional and it broke the 14th amendment. In source 3 section 1 it states“ No states shall abridge the immunities or the privileges of citizens”. In source 2 Showdown in little rock it states, " when the black students attempted to enter central high school students threatened to hold a protest and physically block the students from entering the school”. Segregation and racism led white people to think that they were superior and didn't realize that they were the same. Also to white people it didn't matter if the black students were smart, but because they were black they were not welcome. The abuse that the students were getting began to get so bad that president Eisenhower ordered the Arkansas national guard to protect them. This shows that white people hated black people so much that the army had to help the kids get to school. As can be seen the hatred during segregation caused so many issues. All things considered black kids were treated unfairly and had to go through a lot to get the education they needed to be
