For example, the scholar understands that collaboration with others is important as other ideas and knowledge are needed to increase a smooth flow in the program. Additionally, the special education director must ensure that the special educator has the patience and compassion to endure the many responsibilities of the job description, and fully understand the importance of the details. Furthermore, the special education director should determine if the special educator can pay attention to details and fully implement the IEP (as this is law and must be followed), and the special educator should be able to coordinate scheduling because there are many meetings and deadlines that are to be met with little time for extensions. Professionally, the scholar learned how the term paraeducator came about during World war II to handle the teacher shortages (French & Pickett, 1997). Therefore, the scholar learned that being a special education director means that when evaluating the paraeducator observations should be conducted and questions should be specific. It is important for the special education director to ensure the paraeducator has the drive and determination to handle the responsibility of the classroom and can work independently or collaborate when needed. The scholar learned that the paraeducator should have many different skills, such as organization skills, intrapersonal skills, and being able to maintain a positive classroom environment. The evaluation of the paraeducator should determine whether the students can become socially independent and to gain problem-solving
