Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; a sentiment probably heard many times over the course of one’s lifetime. Whether one truly agrees with it or not, it does ring some truth. Every single person has their own idea of what defines the word ‘beauty.’ It varies depending on where they live, the people surrounding them, and the experiences they have. According to, beauty is, “the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest).” However, if you strip off all these different layers, it comes down to two distinct ideas. Inner beauty, and outer beauty. Outer beauty is the physical aspect. It is the color of your eyes, how much you weigh, the color of your skin, how big your nose is. For some people, their worth and attractiveness comes down to what they look like. If they don’t weigh a certain amount, or if they aren’t wearing makeup, then they’re not beautiful. They must have the perfect hairstyle, and flawless skin. All these outlooks are constantly drilled into our head as we grow up. If you don’t look a certain way, no one will ever find you beautiful. We see it on billboards, T.V, books and magazines; advertising products for your skin and special diets and pills to lose weight. Instead of glasses, you can wear contacts…
