Informative Essay: Is Hollywood Plastic Surgery Too Extreme?

Improved Essays
Hollywood plastic surgery keeps coming up in the headlines leaving some fans wondering what is the deal. First, it was a slew of actors, actresses and other stars who allegedly was changing their looks. Then there was the gossip around the procedures. After all the dust has settled, the stars typically come out and deny they had Hollywood plastic surgery. Yet, leave the door open when it comes to injections, treatments and the like.

Reminds me of Nene Leaks after she changed her nose (she said she did, so no alleging needed here). After pictures surfaced, people started being rather intense on why she was so vain. True or not, it's no different than anyone else who gets the procedure elsewhere. Except it is Hollywood plastic surgery.

Is Hollywood plastic surgery too extreme?

This is a very interesting question that really depends on who you ask. There is no doubt that more people see the inner workings of Hollywood plastic surgery -- before and after pics -- than the surgeon down the street. Also, the doctors who perform the surgeries and treatments become celebrities themselves, so anything they touch is looked over by the fans. As far as the treatments done, it's doubtful the doctors would actually take risks on really famous folks. If they did and it went wrong, they would hurt their practice significantly.

Noticing Hollywood plastic surgery appears to be the latest thing that angers anyone who is famous. Repeatedly stars like Renee Zellweger suggest that noticing (by pointing out differences) is body shaming. That is an extreme statement that is farthest from reality. People who get paid because of their looks can't expect privacy if they change their looks. Yes, Renee look different. She might not have had surgery (and we didn't ask so we don't know) but she doesn't look the same. Normal people call that age and pointing it out isn't body shaming either...it's called

That does not mean that plastic surgery should be banned, but we should give the chance to people who need it. Kieran from the Annals of Medical and Healthy Sciences Research in 2015 simply suggests to educate the general public that, and I quote, “the vast majority of patients who undergo plastic surgery do so because they need to and the vast majority of surgeons who specialize in this area do so because they wish to improve the quality-of-life of people with disfiguring conditions.” Like I said before, just simply having a more open minded view will help, but for those who are looking to do more, here’s an idea.
