When isn’t something controversial these days? Plastic surgery has been viewed as both good and bad. It is a helpful answer to bullying or insecurities because it would help the victim feel confident enough to live their lives with a smile on their face. On the other hand, plastic surgery is a horrible resolution to bullying or insecurities because it shows that the bully or bullies have won, and that you have given up on the fight. An example that supports the latter and communicates the idea of being who you really are instead of trying to change is Source C (“A Solution to Bullying: Where Do We Draw the Line”). In the article, it is explains that teenagers should be able to embrace their appearance instead of fixing it with plastic surgery. Also, it justifies that the adults and people their age should help them embrace their true selves. Another example is from the documentary “Second Chances” by NBC Dateline about another participant named Donovan. He, unlike the others, was not accepted by the Little Baby Face Foundation to get plastic surgery on his chin, but in the end, he was glad that he was rejected. Some time after his rejection phone call, he had started a campaign to end bullying at his school. Instead of moping about not receiving the surgery, Donovan had decided he had had enough of everyone making fun of him, and became a well-known student who would help …show more content…
That does not mean that plastic surgery should be banned, but we should give the chance to people who need it. If a teenager who has a facial deformity or genetic defects needs plastic surgery to be able to live their lives normally, I would not disagree.
