Eating meat is an unsustainable habit that is not only unnecessary but also shows how we treat animals inhumanely. It is a practice that dates back to prehistoric times. We now systematically raise animals for slaughter. This leads to animals being raised in poor environments. Animals are treated not as living creatures but as commodities for us to trade and sell. Eating meat can no longer simply be justified by saying that animal meat is a necessity in our lives or our diets. People in the United States are not so impoverished that we need to mass produce meat and over-hunt animals as we did centuries ago. Industrialized animal farming has only harmed the animals further by increasing supply without improving conditions for the animals. It
