W. Edwards Deming builds 14 key principles for management to follow for significantly improving the effectiveness of a business or organization. Many of the principles are philosophical and others are more programmatic. However, all are transformative in nature.
1) Create constancy of purpose for improvement of product and service.
It means inspiring the workers to stay competitive stage in the market and remind about the importance of stability in jobs and new opportunities which may come up in the future steps. It encourages people predict and prepare for future challenges and always have the goal of getting better. 2) Adopt the new philosophy.
The consumers’ tastes and demands change quickly fast and the competition in the market grow rapidly so we have to accept new philosophies following the technology revolutions and market trends. In other words, it means putting your customers ' needs first, rather than reacting to competitive pressure and design products and services to meet their needs.
3) Cease dependence on mass inspection.
It means putting quality first at the beginning itself with production quality control and this will ensure raw materials are not wasted. Inspections are unreliable and costly Also, they don 't improve quality. It is about using statistical control methods but not physical inspections by itself, to prove that the process is working.
4) End the practice of awarding business on price tag alone.
