Reflective Essay About My Self Assessments

I was a little skeptical about taking this class in my first semester at Loyola, I wasn 't sure what it was going to be about or what influence it would have in my career. The self-assessments we did in class for the past few weeks were very intriguing for me. There were many surprises because over the past few years I have gone through a personality transformation. Part of this change is my decision to pursue a bachelor 's degree and my dissatisfaction with my educational growth throughout the past years. As a result, my professional skills have changed dramatically; my values, interests, and passions, however, have remained relatively unchanged.

From the values and motivators presentation, I was surprised how much some of my

I am a Business Management major and plan to add a minor in Supply Chain Management, and then possibly obtain my MBA. As the book "Getting from College to Career" says; minoring in something is majorly helpful. These self-assessments that we did during the semester and the career path presentation have clear any doubts in my mind as to whether I will enjoy a career in this field. I originally chose this field because of my ability to do make decisions and my desire to become a business person. Also, this field provides a good foundation to allow me to enter into many career paths. It is a safe career route, and I am sure I want safe especially if I will enjoy what I do. I feel that with my personality, nonetheless, I do not have to worry about not enjoying what I do because I have learned to adapt to any situation and take the positives from it. For example, my values in a workplace culture are so vague that I could almost work anywhere. I want a workplace that strives for determined employees that work hard, but are happy and enjoy life. Also, a fun, but challenging atmosphere and an organized environment would be nice but is not necessary. As I said earlier, this can describe many

Writing has changed my perspective on various aspects of my life. Some of the essays that I have written in the past have opened doors to new ideas. These essays have helped me make connections I feel I never would have made without writing. I believe this is because I enter my deepest level of concentration when I write. This heightened level of concentration I reach when writing has allowed me to reflect on important areas in my life such as self-awareness and motivation.…

I think that reflected appraisal has had a tremendous effect on the way that I act. One of the things that I have reflected on and have come to the conclusion of is that growing up, particularly in high school, one of the comments that I frequently got was that I am “very sassy.” It was not usually in a negative situation either, most of the time the person would make the sassy comment after I made retort about an action I thought was stupid or unnecessary and it usually resulted in a ripple of laugher. I feel as though, because of the positive result of the situation and the joking comment, I associated being sassy and making people laugh. As I have grown, and in the situation that I am in currently, I have come to realize that if I am in a foul mood, instead of people thinking that my sassiness is funny, they instead have turned it to me “being a bitch.”…

Introduction Have you ever wondered what your greatest strengths were and how you could use those to help you advance in your career? Many people probably think they have certain personality strengths until they take an assessment to see what they actually are. I recently took a personality assessment utilizing the DISC method of scoring to see what my more dominant personality traits were. The results came back a little different than what I thought of myself at first but the more I pondered on it, the more it made sense. My three most dominant personality traits are Conscientious, Dominant and Steadiness.…

Hi, Post 2 - Writing a Self-Assessment I thought it was important to understand what a self-assessment is and how to write one. A self-assessment is the process of looking at oneself in order to assess aspects that are important to one's identity. It is one of the motives that drive self-evaluation, along with self-verifcation and self-enhancement. A self-assessment will prompt people to seek information to confirm their uncertain self-concept rather than their certain self-concept and at the same time people use self-assessment to enhance their certainty of their own self-knowledge. The addictive habit that I abstained from for the past week was self-criticism. I focused on refraining from criticism during this week because it is something I do multiple times each day which I know is unhealthy. Downgrading myself is a daily occurrence because I feel as though I will never be presentable enough. It is part of my life to criticize m faults and shortcomings which puts a massive strain on my self-esteem, peace of mind, and relationships.…

On the 2nd day of class when we did the decision-making continuum I fell into the no idea category. When we did this activity I felt nervous since I realized that I really had no idea as to what I wanted to major in, but once we started filling out our goal sheets I felt confident that this class would help me greatly in choosing a major which it did. This class has taught me that some of my beliefs about choosing a career or major were myths. I use to think that whatever you majored in would be what you do for the rest of your life. When that is not the case just because you major in something doesn’t mean you will be doing that for the rest of your life.…

Have you ever pondered the idea of existing solely for yourself? We exist in life individually, but when we share our stories with others we create the possibility of someone else being able to relate. In a way, sharing my personal journey statement can bring me together with others who see the same vision as myself. I know this isn’t the kind of story you’d expect to hear, but I can guarantee you this is a story that needs to be heard. My journey of self-development has taken scale on a variety of experiences.…

In August, at the beginning of the semester, I considered myself a thoroughly terrible writer. With time and practice, though, I have gradually gained confidence and skill. Throughout high school, I have assumed that I am a decent reader, with my average expectations; however, I have constantly struggled with translating what I know into intelligible phrases like my peers in gifted English seem to do with ease. Insecurity has always gone hand-in-hand with my writing- not because I am unwilling to try, but because I never perceive my work as good enough. Despite the fact that people reading what I write terrifies me, speaking in front of people makes my knees weak and my hands shake.…

At the early age of 21, I discovered that life can throw you a curve ball. However, it’s what you do in that situation that can ultimately define you as a person. My curve ball came when I realized that my marriage wasn’t healthy for my children and me, which resulted in me parlaying my dream of a bachelor’s degree after completing my associates at TVCC. After 3 years of dead end jobs I stumbled into a career as an office manager; advancing upon that career for the subsequent 17 years.…

To check my students understanding of the content that I presented in my lesson plan I used a formative assessment, an authentic assessment, a formal assessment, and a summative assessment. The formative assessment that I used to asses my students’ knowledge was the individual whiteboards that I used during my whole group instruction. These allowed me to easily and quickly see immediate information on whether or not my students were understanding the content I was presenting. I noticed during this assessment that many of my students probably had prior knowledge or understanding of maps since many of them were able to answer open-ended questions quickly and effectively. It also helps with determining if there was any need to modify and adjust…
