IBE Reflection Essay

The IBE program was a distinct program for me as I am majoring in Management Information Systems. Without any doubts, I can surely say that this semester has been one of the most exciting and challenging semester for me here at Minnesota State University, Mankato. I got an opportunity to connect with different people and know more about the real-world entrepreneurship. I am thankful to the College of Business department for creating this amazing opportunity for students.
I was a part of the IT department on our company. Even though I did not take an officer position, I still tried my best to fulfill my responsibilities and dedicate my resources to the group as much as possible. I learned a lot about myself by participating in the IBE practicum. By the end of the semester,

The experience was different in both positive and negative aspects. Working together as a group was sometimes hard and sometimes fun as well. Working with a large group helped me view a situation in various ways. At times it was hard for me to rely and trust other people’s decision but to overcome this feeling everyone shared their thoughts and ideas and clarified why the idea was right. It’s hard to rely on my team mates for the grading process but I tried to put my best effort as a part of the team. Also, it was hard to agree on several decisions made. Making the entire company to agree on something was one of the most frustrating aspect of the practicum. Moreover, students got frustrated easily when their ideas were not heard. Different people had different aspects on how to approach different situation, idea generation for products, choosing a charity organization etc. Even though we tried our best to listen to every single person’s opinion, it was hard to bring every idea to consideration. After all the hard steps, we finally concluded and decided to move on with what’s best for our

As an incoming freshman in August of 2015 taking Rhetoric 105, I not only learned how to take apart papers, summarize, paraphrase, analyze and construct passages, but overall to be a great thinker. There are many ways that a person can tell you that works to become a better thinker, but it starts within you. While writing papers this fall semester, I learned that my writing became better when I a. understood what was being asked of me via the criteria, b. allowed myself to make mistakes in order to understand what I was and wasn 't doing correctly, c. I started to question myself, not in a way of was the work too hard, but in the sense of what the assignment and the thesis I am creating is asking. At this stage, you have to be completely real…

Portfolio reviewers: My pre-ECU 2201 experience was my English 1100 course. While taking this class online, I learned how to make an interesting essay. Though this class didn 't require much research, it taught me how to write an interesting essay. Most of the time the professor gave us the decision to write whatever we wanted to write on. When it comes to understanding yourself and your personality on a deeper level than normally, you must take personal stories into perspective that have shaped your life while growing up. According to McAdams, “defining oneself through a personal story is an act of psychological and social responsibility” (Engler 2009). Psychological and social responsibility relate to how you act onto actions around you and how you tie society into your viewpoint of the world. In other words, explaining yourself through a story can show several things such as how your emotions played an affect, the type of response you displayed to something that happened, and as well as the lessons you learned through a personal but also social aspect. In addition, McAdams…

Being just sixteen, I didn’t know how to help him efficiently and felt both powerless and helpless at trying to find adequate resources and services to help him deal with his problems. While I did eventually find counseling services and potential help for him, the effects of his psychological problems were so brutal that he committed suicide. This profound experience of losing a close friend to suicide forced me to develop a strong interest into understanding the role, guidance and motivations that leads people to such extremes. At this point, I had already cultivated the desire to…

At the beginning of the semester, we were assigned a team project. At first, the assignment sounded difficult to me because it was just at the beginning of the semester and I did not know my classmates or the team members assigned to my group. With the help of the teachers I was able to meet and get to know my team members by their names, we exchanged our phone numbers and email address to ease communication. In our first meeting, we were able to select the team leader, come up with the rules to govern the team and also plan the times we were going to be holding the team meeting every week. In our second session, we were able to come up with the project, discuss the project then divided and allotted tasks to each member.…

I had to do some self reflecting during the process to ensure that I was doing what was best for the students in developing the team vision, and not backing down when others wanted to push it aside. I believe that over time I will learn to develop a thicker skin, but I know that it is something I need to work on balancing. I think that this relates well to ELLC standard I. This standard requires educational leaders to look at the goals of the school and see the big picture. They work with the school community and seek involvement of the stakeholders in the process of developing the vision and mission for the students and their future…
