This results in a lack of appreciation, respect and warmth that is required in a relationship. Hence, pessimism can harm the relationship with one’s partner. Not only that, most people also prefer to be in the company of those with a positive attitude. Therefore, being a pessimist can make one unpopular among their friends because they are always grumpy and ranting about how unfair life is.
2.2.3 Leads to lack of motivation and loss of opportunities Pessimists are the type of people who do not believe in positive outcomes and this usually leads to a lack of motivation and ambition in an individual’s overall state of mind. Without motivation, it is difficult for an individual to achieve their goals or gain success. This lack of motivation is also accompanied with fear to take risks and try new things. Hence, pessimists are always missing out on new opportunities. Since life is all about making the most of every opportunity that comes knocking on the door, being pessimistic makes one see the bad side of even the best opportunities and therefore robs the happiness from one’s life. Pessimist people often have a skeptical approach to life which makes them unhappy about most things that happen around

I’m pretty sure most of us know the stories of Winnie the Pooh. Do you remember the two characters Tigger and Eeyore. We all know Tigger as the energetic, exuberant, and friendly character. Eeyore is the more insightful, gloomy, and dismal character. There are many different ways that people are defined in life. Would you consider yourself to a very vibrant and excited person or a shallow and negative person? An optimist would be somebody who tries to find light even in the darkest of places, while a pessimist wouldn’t bother to look because he knows that he probably won’t find it. In reality, I don’t consider myself to be just optimistic or just pessimistic. I would call myself an “optimistic pessimist”. You’re probably wondering what the…

It takes a great amount of patience to choose to be optimistic rather than negative, and it takes optimism to teach you to be patient. Sports teams were a great influence in my life and I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to play on so many different teams because the opportunities taught me to be patient and optimistic, not just in sports, but in life as a whole. Being the individual who is able to spread the positive energy rather than negative gave me a new perspective. I started to see the greater good, not just in a given situation, but also with people. I learned that not everything in life is handed or comes the way you want or expect, and being patient can also lead to a much more pleasant and optimistic future. In another experiment the conclusion was made that “Greater optimism predicted greater antibody production and better immune outcomes” (Mindfulness and Positive Thinking).
