I have been plagued with a hamstring injury which can not only take a toll on the body, but also has the potential of psychologically damaging the athlete. I know firsthand because whenever I feel like I am improving with my training, I strain or pull my hamstring and it keeps me out for a while. While I’m out rehabbing, I lose confidence. It is never a good sign for an athlete to lose confidence in his or her ability because it hinders performance in their sports and sometimes in their life. It takes a strong minded person to avoid the loss of confidence. As a student athlete, I made the choice to enter the field of health as a career to help other athletes regain the confidence they have lost and to help them comeback stronger.
