He encouraged me to keep a positive mindset and to adhere to therapy, so I could go back to training as soon as possible. He was a very nice person and made me think of going into this field as a career. After my therapy, I returned to the training and attended the sports meeting. It was a sunny…
Athletic Trainer, a health care professional that collaborates with physicians, is a career I wish to pursue due to the chance to help athletes when they are hurt, the ability to coach, the time to travel, and the opportunity to be a part of a sports team. I have not been interested in being an athletic trainer for long because I never really knew what I wanted to do for my career. I am apart of sports teams, and I always think about how I want to continue being a part of sports when I leave high school, like playing softball in college, but that will eventually be over. When I began to think about continuing to be apart of sports after high school is when I became interested in being an athletic trainer. Being around a sport is not the only…
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment” -Ralph Waldo Emerson(american essayist/lecturer. This quote is what i feel like I have,to be able to be let into this compound. I’ve had many setbacks in life from being fat to getting bullied by kids at my elementary school well I guess those kind of relate to each other.…
The job opportunities are supposed to increase because of the awareness of injuries in sports has increased dramatically. Some states require schools to have athletic trainers to ensure safety for all children. Athletic trainers are usually on site when injuries occur so the demand for athletic trainer should continue to increase to enable safety at sports games. Sports at a level will continue to demand athletic trainers to always have someone at games at all time to treat any injuries that need to be cared for. Depending on the states some insurance recognize a athletic trainer as a health care provider so they’ll pay for any costs with the trainer meaning that some people may go to an athletic trainer because they’ll insurance will cover the appointment unlike visiting a doctor or hospital where you may have to pay a copay…
Everyone that has attended a sporting event and witnessed an injury of a player has seen many people, most times wearing khaki colored bottoms run onto the field to help the injured player. These people are called athletic trainers, according to NATA.org they “are certified healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians. The services provided by ATs comprise prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions”. But where do these Athletic trainers come from? How was this profession invented?…
The nature of becoming an athletic trainer requires tiring work but it is something I would look forward to doing as a career. As an athletic trainer you would work with different athletes in vary of sports and age groups to prevent, diagnose, and treat injuries to the muscles and bones. The athletic trainer would work closely under a physician because remember they are not doctors so they can only provide basic medical care. An athletic trainer often provides first prompt first aid or emergency care when…
An athletic trainer is a health professional that specializes in injuries occurring from physical activities (sports). They are trained in preventing, recognizing, rehabilitating, and managing injuries that occur in athletes. Athletic trainers can help avoid unnecessary medical treatment. Athletic trainers are not limited to sports teams or schools, they can work in schools, physician clinics, hospitals and manufacturing plants. For example, an injured high school or college athlete can see their school or team’s athletic trainer if their injury is not severe enough to need to go to the doctor or hospital.…
Self- discloser, came to me when I was the manger/head personal trainer in one of the gyms I worked for. There was a young boy who wanted to get stronger and a little bigger, but he had a disability that he let get in his way of becoming stronger and bigger. He thought people would look and stare at him funny, this made him uncomfortable. His mom and dad tried to tell him to go for his goals, but he told them they did not understand what he was feeling, for they did not have a disability.…
In movies or books, people often describe a defining moment as when they figure out who they are, and what goals they want to reach in the long run. Going to college, having nice things, and living at the beach, are my long term goals in life. For the past few years, I have wanted to pursue a career in sports rehabilitation therapy. The next step, in order to achieve that goal, will be to obtain a college degree.…
Even though I am 17 years old, I don't have your typical teenage life. I finished high school, I’m currently working on my college courses, I have two jobs and family obligations. I am working on my last two courses, however, due to the extensive work of the assignments, I need to dedicate a lot of my time to school. I spend most weekdays on working on my school assignments. I am in a single parent household and since my sister a full-time student and my mom having a full-time job, I try to eliminate their workload by having dinner done before they get home.…
As I walk into the the gymnastics gym, I look at the large golden trophies next to the wall, and the pictures of the gymnastic teams near the entrance. I see people clapping their chalky hands in the air, and watch people doing back tucks on the trampolines. I am starting to feel more confident, although I am also filled with fear, which was nothing new, thinking, “ So many things could go wrong”. Except, usually, nothing did, until March 25. I warm up as my ears are filled with the thud sound of people sticking their landings on the spring floor.…
The summer oh August 2013 was the year I started my journey to as an athletic trainer. Throughout the years I have learned a lot about working with others and also a lot of this about sports medicine. Almost every year we get new students with different physical and mental characteristics. On the week of my eighteenth birthday, I started to realize that now that I'm 18 and about to graduate from high school all there is left for me to do is graduate high school and college, get a good job, get married, make a difference, have kids and die.…
Stepping into the gym on my first day of high school I was more nervous than any person could imagine. Me, a shy introvert wanting just to get in and out of high school and get to college, didn’t care for joining clubs or participating in after school activities. I walked into the brightly lit gym with bleach white walls and blue and green plastic bleachers and took a seat far away from any human life. Quietly keeping to myself I pulled out my phone and scrolled through Instagram pretending like I was doing something meaningful.…
Challenges: One challenge that I had to face in the last few weeks was a gymnast ran full speed into a balance beam and hit the front of his head. Understandably, he was in tears and complained of a headache. There were no instructors immediately around so I had to handle the situation on my own. After a few minutes, I was able to calm him down and ask him a few questions. He answered all my questions in a timely manner, and didn’t show signs of a concussion.…
