Personal Narrative: A Career As A Recreation Assistant

Even though I am 17 years old, I don't have your typical teenage life. I finished high school, I’m currently working on my college courses, I have two jobs and family obligations. I am working on my last two courses, however, due to the extensive work of the assignments, I need to dedicate a lot of my time to school. I spend most weekdays on working on my school assignments. I am in a single parent household and since my sister a full-time student and my mom having a full-time job, I try to eliminate their workload by having dinner done before they get home. Along with this, I try to keep the house clean and manage things around the house. I have four pets; two cats and two dogs, who require a lot of attention. Due to my dog recently having a series of seizures, and being placed on seizure medication, I have to keep a very tight schedule with giving him his medicine, making sure he is okay and taking him outside due to his side effects of the medicine, increased thirst, and hunger. …show more content…
For the past two years, I’ve been a part of a summer day camp as a camp counselor, due to my experience, I have been hired as a Recreation leader to plan for this year’s summer camp. I have various responsibilities which include: planning games and crafts for the younger age groups, planning the detailed day to day schedule for the six-year-olds, the group I will be this year and making sure we are stocked with the required materials for activities. I also work as a sitter for two girls aged 8 and 11. Two or three Fridays out of a month, I will pick the girls up from the bus stop and bring them home where we will do homework, eat and
