What we have is ours! As we know by now that it has been said numerous time that freshwater is becoming liquid gold of 21st century and Canada is abundant by this natural resource. By not selling water and keeping it in its natural state of ecosystem will help not only the environment but the ecosystem it supports. Environment Minister John Braid said "Canada has restrictions in place to prohibit bulk removal of water backed by serious fines and/or imprisonment. Canada is committed to protecting water in its natural state and preserving the state of ecosystems and will continue to be so."(Canada.com). Canada clearly has other plans for its water, and Canadians have a right to use it because its their and should not be sold at any cost. Keeping the water in its ecosystem, natural environment can help it renew itself. Selling water in bulks can definitely interrupt its natural flow in the lakes and rivers, which can cause wide spread flooding across Canada. With rapid industrial growth happening, water is one of the main resources that Canada relies on and if government starts selling water it, may affect the industrial development of country. Who wants to divert water from Devils Lake? United States wants to divert the water from Devils Lake into Sheyenne River, which eventually connects with the Red River and Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba.
Why? It is because Devils Lake have been tripled its size, after more than a decade of wet weather in the enclosed basin and it also does not have any natural outlets, so the only way the water escapes from the lake is by evaporating.
