Humorist Role Analysis

Some words, phrases, interjections cannot be stated in the public eye. Special taboos on certain items such as race or gender roles become rarely discussed within conversations. However, there may be an outlet in which people can discuss these topics in a subtle manner; this comes in the form of humorists such as cartoonists, stand-up comedians, satirical writers, etc. Humorists use their art to disguise the messages they want to convey to the [public. People in this profession have a chance to stand up for their beliefs without facing possible dangers. I believe that humorists do indeed play a vital role in the awakening of the public mind. For example, in “A Modest Proposal,” a satire criticizing the treatment of commoners by British government, the author proposes a wild concept. For example, the show, Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse, successfully displays a satirical sense. The show is light enough to not be taken seriously, but it can show some aspects of society many people may not register. The show humors itself as the characters often mock themselves, which leads to other imitations of society. For example, the main characters often acknowledge that they are in a TV show and break the fourth wall many times. The characters mention how they cannot create a fire with plastic sticks during a camping trip and how they cannot cut their hair due to the incapability to grow it back. Although the show is meant for young girls, it has attracted a wide audience of various ages. The show itself is part of humorism and nobody can really take it seriously that the show is in danger of backlash for controversy.
