Family Guy Satire

Who says that’s cartoons aren’t allowed to use profanity and make fun of today’s society? Family guy awakens the subconscious and make the conscious aware. Family guy may have some rated R episodes and jokes but if you look at the show at a deeper perspective than just a face value, you will see the insightful meaning. Based on Peacocke’s article I would recommend young adults and adults to watch the show Family guy. Peacocke talks about her own struggle with the shows seemingly offensive humor. As she watched the show she then realizes the underlying "satire" of the jokes that are obtained in the show. Peacockes essay briefly summarizes the hardships of Family Guy, being that the show have been cancelled twice. Later she acknowledges …show more content…
The family includes Peter, Lois, Chris, Meg, Stewie, and Brian. Peter is the dad, head of the household, he's a bit on the slow side, loves beer, and is in love with TV. Lois is the wife and mother, she's always the one you would want to go to with your problems. Chris is the son, very slow and stupid. Meg is the daughter who just can't be noticed. Stewie, the baby is always looking for victory to be his. Brian is a man stuck in a dog's body who loves Lois and is trying to figure out why he's with the Family. The overall satire and irony of the show is amazing. I cannot even begin to discuss how ridiculously smart and outrageously funny Family Guy is to us as a viewer. Not only does this program just make up funny jokes most of the comedies on television, it has the guts to hit topics that most of the other television shows and people stay away from. So the show itself takes lots of risk. For instance, in one episode, the children end up being biracial and Stewie says something along to lines of, "Oh goody. I'm half black and half white, so everyone will accept me when I grow up!" By that one statement more than likely it helped get someone get through a maybe tuff situation that they was facing alongside of being biracial. You laugh, feel bad for laughing at the information given on the show, then think about why you laughed and then explore the political or social facts behind the joke, which all leads one to my point of Family Guy being a great show you should watch because it is educational. Not only to mention the emotions that comes with the show but as well I must include the incredible voice talent done for this show. Not only can the creator Seth MacFarlane, speak in these individual voices, he can sing in them as well. The television show is rated a 8.3 according to critics and viewers on IMDB. “After the Griffins become a Nielsen Family, everyone gets mad at

The Cleaver family makes up the shows main characters. The family makeup is nuclear, with two married parents, Ward and June, and two sons, Wally and Theodore better known as “The Beaver”. The family follows the cultural ideal of the times, as June Cleaver is a homemaker while Ward is the breadwinner of the family. The children Wally and the Beaver are mischievous, but they are well mannered complacent kids. It is obvious that Ward is the head of the household as both his wife and children are submissive to his control.…

    Big Mouth Satire

Children being sexually active in a television show has sparked a lot of controversy. The show is extremely vulgar and crude at times, but in my opinion, it perfectly portrays the reality of puberty. There is no other show in pop culture that is so relatable, transparent, and really tackles this awkward stage of life as well as Big Mouth seems to do. Its brutally honest presentation of puberty through dark humour is what makes this show so effective. Because the characters are animated, this show is not inappropriate and it allows them to push the boundaries of the taboo of sex in today’s society.…

It is the type of show to challenge the common way TV shows usually handle delicate situations. Controversy is able to divide the people into taking sides while creating stories for the media, which is also stated in Satire’s Brew. This was one the big reasons for the show’s popularity to grow. I myself have always liked South Park and watched quite often, however I also was just watching for the laughs, vulgarity and never took it serious enough. However after reading the lecture I began to see South Park in a whole different…

After watching the whole first season of F is for Family, I observed how it portrayed race, ethnicity, and class. The show has some interesting ways of how it portrays these races, ethnicity, and class. The course terms I used from chapter 9 were race, dominant ethnic group, minority groups, prejudice, segregated, and stereotypes. Course terms I used from chapter 10 were sex, gender, masculinity, femininity, sexism, and feminism. I concluded that this sitcom somewhat accurately portrays how people treated people based on their race, ethnicity, and class.…

How can someone enjoy this type of entertainment if it is only leading to be cruel to others? People are more fanatic at seeing bad things, and enjoy when people make fun of others not which is very sad. They praise to the suffering and pain of others as well as in Family Guy. In this show, they make fun of religion and Jesus has been portrayed as a con man such as when he pretended to be a virgin to sleep with Lois or as a cocaine addict of how he really died, according to Stewie. This doesn’t know any respect to the people who are believers of God and of course it is going to transmit hatred among…

One ominous morning of 2008 I woke up to a saddened atmosphere. I look around at my parents, who are hardcore republicans, and asked them what was wrong. They said that they had lost the election. My eight year old self replied that they never won because they never ran, and of course they explained that their party lost the run for presidency. For the years to come every time I would look at the news and see a little “R” next to a person name I would know that they are the “good guys”.…

These offensive lyrics aim to make people laugh and most importantly, to make people to discover the hidden meanings. Offensive humor is done by letting the viewer believing the joke is actually talking about something else or is the person who is supposed to be laugh at (Sienkiewicz & Marx, 2009).There are many individuals who after hearing the song condemn these lyrics as being powerful enough to incite a rebellion, whereas others will view the song as a satirical statement of the U.S. government operates today (Ricke, 2012). Shows like Family Guy are brewing a cultural rebellion. It shows that animated sitcoms play the role not only as a communication tool but also an interaction medium. Audience have a growing sense that anything goes mentality permeating our electronic culture, and electronic culture contributes to the moral crisis facing America.…
