Family Guy is the show I have picked for my final. This show is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth Macfarlane and is based off stereotypes and negative depictions of almost every aspect of life. It is centered on the griffin family that consists of the parents, Peter and Lois; their children Meg, Chris, and Stewie; and their talking dog, Brain. The Griffin’s are a model family but each member is complex, different, and yet noticeable individual. The whole show resides in Quahog, Rhode island. Each episode reveals a different concept, throughout the show it talks about various sociological themes such as race, gender, sexuality, and family through the forms of exaggeration. Underneath all the crude humor lies the hidden truths…

to their sex, race, religious views, or other facts. A group of people that is commonly stereotyped in the media today are Jews. When thinking of Jews, an individual may call to mind a few things, such as all Jews are obsessed with money, bad at sports, white, and have big noses. In recent discussions of Family Guy, a controversial issue has been whether people should or should not watch the television show. On the one hand, some argue that Family Guy is pure entertainment and that nothing is inappropriate with the show. From this perspective, I find it completely absurd that people actually find it acceptable to engage with such a vulgar show. On the other hand; however, others argue that it is a cruel show that incorporate crude humorless jokes. In the words of…

Most of the T.V shows and movies are categorized by age ratings which obviously are indicating that minors are not allowed to watch it and fully discretion is needed. Family Guy and The Simpsons are two American classics. The Simpsons first debuted in 1989, and Family Guy aired its first episode a decade later in 1999. Designed for audiences fourteen years old and older, both television series contain some forms of strong language, sexual content, and dialogue that would not be suitable for younger children. Both television series impacted the realm of comedy in a positive way by producing spin-offs of the original shows in years to come. Many people enjoy…
