Critics of Bernie have struggled to classify the movie, and viewers would certainly attest to this statement. The movie is placed in the satire genre, but this does not seem necessarily complete. The film is well made and the level that it grips the watcher is almost disturbing. Although the film begins with an unusual opening of a jolly and flamboyant mortician conducting a procedure on a corpse for a guest lecture, Bernie morphs into a dark irony. As he prepares the dead for burial, he explains his ideology behind his work.…

Media plays a hand on the information the public receives and to an extent how they digest that information. Media’s purpose now seems to help fuel controversies instead of shedding light on what is important. For instance, when Obama was elected president instead of focusing on the fact that we made history; the focus was on what Donald Trump was doing to undermine Obama’s legitimacy. Interviews were conducted and shows were shown where Trump asked Obama to prove that he was an American citizen. This has never occurred before where a president had to prove who he was to one man.…

This is especially relevant today with the election of President Trump. The theme I pick for this assignment will be on political leaders and an election campaign. To understand the “celebrification” of politics and the promotional techniques used to cultivate a political leader. The public persona /political figure I decided to focus on is Donald J Trump during this ongoing 2016 U.S election campaign. The reason behind making an essay on the 58th quadrennial U.S presidential election is because there weren’t any scholarly articles or even news articles going over the connections between “celebrification” and the current election other their superficial parts. But most of all what I’m trying to discuss in this essay as my thesis is how Donald Trump participation in the 2016 general election is a great example of how “Celebrification” can undermine contemporary democracy.…
