The Hubble Telescope was indeed launched into space in 1990. However, the origin of the telescope first designs date back to 1946 during World War 2 (after Hitler’s Reign over Germany and most of Europe. A professor at Yale University wrote a paper called Astronomical Advantages of Extra Terrestrial Observatory is about how everything from far distances are a blur and with a telescope, it is easier to see. He went on and on and talked about sending a telescope into orbit, an idea at the time that seemed …show more content…
During the first meeting in 1966, this group performed comprehensive studies on possible uses for a large space-based telescope. In 1969, the committee published Scientific Uses of the Large Space Telescope, in which the National Academy of Science urged the construction of such an instrument. The report said that a large orbital telescope would make a "dominant contribution to our knowledge of cosmology," by helping scientists study stars, measure distances to galaxies, and investigate the physics behind our universe.” -from http://history.nasa.gov/hubble/ “NASA”
For decades, they spent all types of time and money for making this outer space telescope proposed by Spitzer. After the designing, building and planning was down, it was ready to be launched in 1983. However, this was p ostponed and delayed because of rising problems. The wasn’t done building all the pieces, causing it to be put off. They needed more
