Importance Of Chivalry

Imagine living in a world with absolutely no chivalry used. Or better yet, imagine living in a world where everyone believed in living by the code of chivalry. Today, it is the hospitality, sympathy, and tenderness from humans. When people hold doors, help someone pick their things up, etc., we don’t think of it as a chivalrous act because the word isn’t often used. Although chivalry is thought upon, it is a much needed system to keep improving our world today for many reasons. The lack of chivalry has caused people to rely on other people and everyday technology. Technology has taken over the world, creating a lack of face-to-face communication. Most smartphone users usually avoid an actual conversation in person, especially in youngsters, because it seems easier. Studies say, “Not only are psychologists worried about young people because they are promiscuous users of technology, but also because it is taking away the knowledge of interpersonal skills.” (Kluger). Psychologist, Sherry Turkle, believes that having a conversation with another teaches kids to have one with themselves. It is not just youngsters though. They have problems that are hard for them so they think the only way to feel better is to make others have problems of their own. Also, being bullied at a young age can cause you to bully others when you get older. Both bullies and victims will have a high risk of depression or even suicide at some point in their life. “In 2014, there were 42,773 deaths by suicide in the United States. It is the 10th leading cause of death, and 2nd leading cause of death for 15-24 year olds.” (Suicide Facts). Suicide is a serious problem in the world today with younger people and parents and or teachers don 't take action until it 's too late. It will feel it will never stop until someone takes action and does something about
