Figuring out what you want to do with your life, for some people, can be a long, winding road. I have a handle on what I want to do, at least for now. I plan to get into the vast, wide world of Graphic Design and Art. I want to be the guy illustrating characters that future generations of gamers rave about. I want to stay true to my creative instincts and live relatively comfortably. A career in graphic design is the path I want to take.

Graphic design is one of the purest forms of artistry. It is described by many as communication design. Graphic design uses words and images to convey messages. It covers a whole spectrum of things, from designing the smallest avatar to crafting the layout of the biggest magazine. Common uses of graphic design include identity (logos and branding), publications, print advertisements, posters, billboards, website graphics and elements, signs and product packaging. For example, a product package might include a logo or other artwork, organized text and pure design elements such as images, shapes and color which unify the piece.

As we progress in this modern age, the link between graphic design and technology is becoming more and more intertwined. For creative minds that love emerging technology, this can be a blessing, but for the traditional types who love a pencil and paper, new graphic software and technology can be a distraction.
