Woodrow Wilson Foreign Policy

While the duration of World War I several nations around the globe were immensely affected. The United States of America was one country whose actions toward this brutal war were influenced by their commander in chief. President Woodrow Wilson. He was the 28th president of the United States, who was able to lead and direct our beloved democracy to success. Woodrow Wilson was first nominated for presidency in 1912 at the Democratic Convention. Wilson fulfilled his duties as a leader throughout the course of his two terms, which lasted between 1913 and 1921. Shortly after being nominated for president, Woodrow Wilson was inaugurated as the 28th president of United States of America on March 4,1913. Being the governor of state was distinctly different from to then in command for a whole country. This was a chance for President Wilson to advance as a progressive leader. But as the summer of 1914 came to an end, war had emerged between Germany and Russia on the other side of the world in Europe. President Woodrow Wilson had made a suitable and ethical settlement to have America remain neutral during this outburst.When addressing congress and the citizens of America, he demanded that we all stay in peace and that the people should be “impartial in thought as well as in action” (Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924)). He included the formation for League of Nation, which is “ an instrument for preventing another war”(Brands 53). Wilson used his ideas in the Treaty of Versailles, which he presented at the Paris Peace Conference. This happened in January 1919, he went to negotiate his terms with the British, French, and Italian Governments in order to promote peace (Woodrow Wilson). After congregating at the conference, in September of 1919 Wilion proceed to share his views on this topic with the public in order to raise awareness, due to the stubbornness of republicans in Congress. During this tour, something tragic occurred, President Wilson experienced a stroke which affected him physically. This impacted the future of the Treaty due to Wilson 's conditions. The Treaty of Versailles was sent to Senate,in both November of 1919 and March of 1920, to be ratified. Unfortunately it “failed to gain the two-thirds vote” that was required for it to pass (Woodrow Wilson). As a result, The United States of America never showed up at the first meeting, and could not associate with the organization.
