Hi, I'm Emmeline Pankhurst, I was born in Manchester, England, in 1858. At this time, women are being denied the right to vote. I became a leader in the women's right-to-vote movement. I was very determined to get us our rights.
I, myself, and other suffragettes organized protests to get voting rights for women. The riots sometimes resorted to violence. I was put in jail many times, even 12 times in one year! Some women went on hunger strikes while in prison, but they were force-fed, it was torture.
I soon started a protest of the prisoners (Temporary Discharge for Ill-health) Act of 1913. It was nicknamed "The cat and mouse act". Of course, I would have to go back and serve my time
