Now kids start school in pre-k or 1st grade. And we move on to finish high school or at least hope too, and some go onto college. Most end with at least a high school diploma. Women during the Progressive Era often didn’t go to school after primary school often since the basic schools to work in a house don’t need school to teach. Education was about whom you are not what you can do. If you were a rich white man you could finish high school whereas if you were a black man it would be harder for you to go to school as you got older. There was a lack of schools throughout the nation and as Progressive movement advanced more schools were built and opened up allowing for more kids to attend school. As more schools opened, going to school and learning became a regular part of the day. More kids went on to high school and were prepared for college even if they didn’t end up going. One of the main goals of education during the Progressive movement was to help women and racial minorities attend school and be treated equally as men.
The Progressive Era was an eventful part of our history and helped shaped our country into what it is today. During the Progressive Era, the public felt that the government only did things to benefit themselves. Doing this caused many problems which were causes of the Progressive movement. It helped gained woman’s rights and their equality. It also improved working conditions and how employees are treated.
