As an aspiring Photojournalist, I am intrigued by people and their interpretations of how they view the world, art, themselves and each other. Interviewing local Artist of San Diego and asking a series of questions surrounding their history, passion, and magical moments with art has led me to believe that art is the manifestation of beauty and the perception of our inner realities. Art has the power to transcend physical, symbolic and metaphysical borders whilst simultaneously altering the realities of those interpreting the art, creating something magical for both the artist, and the admirer. Through the course of this semester I have been able to deepen my understanding of how art is a transformative medium by asking artists and myself; Why do you do what you do? How do you work? What is your story/background? What role do you have in society? How does art transcend physical, symbolic and metaphysical borders? Are you/do you know of an inspiring artist that transcends physical, symbolic and metaphysical borders? And my favorite of them all, what is a magical moment in your life? These questions were audio recorded and compiled into a short film that I posted on a public blog all in the hopes of empowering and inspiring others to recognize how art is a revolutionary platform that can be used for positive change just as I’ve recognized it myself.
