Hospice care is end of life care. It is designed to control pain and other symptoms rather than cure the patients hospice care consists of:
• Physician
• Nurse
• RT
• Social worker
• Home health aid
• Trained volunteers
• Physical and occupational therapist, if needed
What services are provided?
• Deals with the patient's pain and symptom
• Helps the patient with the emotional and psychosocial problems
• Gives required medications and therapeutic supplies
• learn the family how to care the patient
Challenges faced by team of hospice care:
1. Insufficient training and education
2. Inadequate compensation
3. Individual distress with death
RT roles in hospice care :
• Provide instructions to help mechanically ventilated and tracheostomy
