The prisoners in death camps, like Auschwitz and more, suffered every day yet despite this there were many different ways they could go about their daily lives there. Some of the prisoners would suffer mentally, while other would be beaten and other physical torture daily. The unlucky prisoners would suffer from both this mental and physical abuse. The two main groups where the adults compared to the children, who had different lives within their age group as well. The children that lived during the holocaust had hard lives that were, in most cases, doomed to have short. “More than 1.5 million children from across Europe were murdered under the Nazi regime.”(projetaladin) The children in general were killed as soon as they entered the camp though some, usually over the age of ten passed selection. They would for various reasons.The most common were experimentation, lying about age, or a guard taking interest in them.
The children taken for research were exposed to the most physical torture and had the smallest survival rates of those who did make it past selection. Despite this they were younger, weaker, and more prone or disease leading to a very high mortality rate. As for their daily life they lived very similar to the adults though they tended to be treated either better, sympathy from older prisoner, or worse, abused by guards and prisoners for being weak, small, and young. These children died because of many various causes. Examples of these would be catching anomia, being beaten to death, dying of malnutrition or dehydration, and freezing to death.
