With the shortage amount of labor, the Geneva convention protocols stated that the POWs could have been forced to work at the wages, but the authorities were afraid how the American people will react if they start paying the POWs wages, but eventually they put thousand of enemy prisoners to work, they assign a different task to Prisoners such as harvest wheat, pick asparagus etc. The authorities allowed prisoners to find a job wherever they can get and they can work under the security for the wages because of the labor shortage. People had different points of view on prisoners. The person named Kerr, Kerr was soldier in the war recalled that one of the prisoner was satisfied because he said it is better to work here because no one is shooting him, he does not have anything to scared of. The person named Keith buss stated that “Four POWs came to his house in search of a job on his family farm in 1943”. The prisoners built them a concrete garage, he said they nailed it, they did a good job and the garage is till up today but at the other hand, The camps for prisoner of wars were worst prisoners wanted to escape and go home due to the harsh situations. Slaughterhouse five work of literary fiction that combines historical, sociological, psychological, science-fiction, and biographical elements. Billy pilgrim the main character in the book slaughterhouse five experienced a lot of different emotions during his time in World war II. Billy described his time travel to different moments of his life such as going to future and coming back to past including his experience with dresden bombing. Billy was going through the post traumatic stress because of all the things happened to him in a war. (Slaughterhouse five pgs 57-66). The prisoners of wars were going through post traumatic stress and they just wanted to go home and at the other hand some soldiers waited to go home and they followed the rules and did the tasks that were given to
