I totally agree with you that common sense is one that every police officer should have in their tool belt. I believe that without it the officer has lost his/her ability to communicate effectively with the general public. If given the choice between being book smart and common sense I would take common sense hands down. The book define Common Sense as “What officers see and how officers act on and react to their working environment. It is the practical knowledge they use to do their work” (Worrall).
