What has Hershey’s already done? For one, as previously stated, Hershey’s operates 11 zero waste to landfill facilities. Soon after 2015, they had already reduced packaging waste by 10 million pounds. They introduced retail ready packaging, which eliminates millions of pounds of cardboard waste. This technically, isn’t part of the “company” but is important, and wrong nonetheless. Although, Hershey’s has fiercely combated this claim with their actions is West Africa. Hershey’s has introduced a project to stop child labor. It is a 10 million dollar project that will benefit farmers educationally, socially, and very importantly, economically. ("Hershey Expands Responsible Cocoa Community Programs in West Africa [press release].")Farmers in West Africa, primarily Ghana and the Ivory Coast, will benefit from this action. The supposed plan hopes to increase farmers yield by 50%.("Chocolate Firm to Stem Child Labour in Region.") This will hopefully succeed in eliminating the possible hundreds of thousands kids working on cocoa farms.("Chocolate Firm to Stem Child Labour in Region.") Hershey’s plans not only to solve the child labor problem, but also keep farmers up to date with modern practices, and educate them about current
