A commitment to social responsibility is displayed in Tim Horton’s brand vision which states they strive to be “the fastest growing global restaurant brand with the best people proudly serving Canada’s favourite coffee while making a true difference in our communities.” (Tim Hortons 2015) In 2014, Tim Horton’s was a member of almost forty industry associations showing their commitment to “being engaged and taking leadership in what drives each industry.” (Marriott 2006) One of Tim Horton’s guiding principles is that they are “not just a good corporate citizen, but an active participant and partner for positive change in the world.” (Tim Hortons 2015)

Their social responsibility effort has been described as “the old-charity model” (Simon 2015) , which means that “we believe we should give back to our community, and we’ve got a charitable bucket of dollars,” but that the company hasn’t “really tightly defined what kind of impact they want to create.” (Simon 2015) Also since the 2015 Corporate Knights Ranking, Tim Horton’s was acquired by Brazil’s 3g Capital Partners.
