The U.S. fears to turn their insurance into a single-payer system because they feel like this is a “socialist” ideology, but yet we provide this system to certain Americans already. Medicaid is also provided in the United States currently, it only covers the elderly or people over 65, unlike the Canadian system under the same name; U.S. Medicaid is a single payer system that has different levels of coverage with its own regulations. I believe that the United States needs to reconsider their options when referring to healthcare, the government spends too much and provides so little to Americans. By turning into a fully single-payer system, not only our healthcare costs will decrease but more people will be able to get medical care, live longer lives as well as not go bankrupt by medical expenses. Even though, the Canadian system seems to be having good results, there is always room for improvement. This is why the Canadian government is still reforming its healthcare system, in order to make it more efficient, less time consuming, as well as develop higher medical technologies in the interest to assist their
