Change and Culture Case Study
Understanding mergers and acquisitions in the health care industry has evolved over the years. Health care has become increasingly complex and expensive. It is becoming a multi-trillion dollar industry worldwide. The topic of this research paper; the impact of mergers and acquisitions have in health care from a variety of viewpoints. The paper will discuss the multiple impacts in an effort to better understand mergers and acquisitions and what it means to the health care organizations culture, services, workers, and the patients they serve.

The first step says, “Before an organization can change its culture, it must first understand the current culture or the way things are now.” This is important for management to understand the culture now as it stands. Management needs to know how the organization works before it can be changed. Making changes to the culture will be harder than creating a new culture within the new organization. The second step says once management understands the current culture of the organization, the organization must decide where it wants to go, define the strategic direction, and decide what the organization should look like to be successful. The third step says the individuals within the organization must decide to change their behavior to create the organization culture. This is the hardest step in culture change because all stakeholders will have a different perspective for the organization.
You can change your organizational culture to support the mission, vision, and values of your organization, but it requires time, commitment, planning, and proper execution of the plan. The change in culture begins with management and moves down the chain of command and eventually to the employees of the organization. The organizational cultural change can be done; it will take time to get everyone on the same path when it comes to the organizational culture as a whole.
