The canyons this morning were miraculously beautiful. As I exited my tent, I made some eggs over the bunsen burner. The wood was wet and cold, and wouldn't light, due to the rain the previous night. We packed our belongings getting ready for the nature walk we would have today. I laced up my jet black, and pearly white tennis shoes, then walked over to the nature lodge to meet our trip advisor. Through the dark green forests, we observed informational signs to guide us through our walk. Throughout the walk I learned many things including the history of Gunnison National Park. Starting with the Utes indians resided in the Gunnison National Park for many years until John .W. Gunnison explored the area in 1853, and wanted to use the river for irrigation. William T. and Abraham Lincoln found places for irrigation, which was completed in 1903. By 1933 the parks monument was created. Though it took years to be approved as a national park, it was eventually established on October 21, 1999. It’s amazing to see the park, and its canyons 2 billion years later. After the trail walk ended, I was overwhelmed with exhaustion. I quickly put on my PJ’s and once again snuggled into my fleece sleeping
