“To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly” - Henri Bergson. One of the main themes in the book, The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer, is growing up. The main character, Tom, matures quite a bit during the book. This school year, I have as well, academically and socially. Tom grew up and revised himself throughout the book. One of the substantial ways he grew up in, is honesty. In the beginning he tricked and lied to Aunt Polly right and left! Consequently, Aunt Polly never felt assured that he was telling the truth. When he told a fib, he never felt guilty. As the book went on he started to perceive that he was wrong. Tom ended up giving her plenty of respect and stopped lying to her. He became as trustworthy as a Boy Scout. Tom furthermore changed his relationships. Aunt Polly and his relationship got superior and gained trust. He was officially done with Amy Lawrence. He additionally made a new relationship, with Becky Thatcher. At first, he has a crush on her and shows off. Becky then starts liking him, and they get fake married. For a while they are fighting, but by the end they are back together. Tom also becomes friends with Huck Finn. I have made a new friend this year! She is a very caring, trustworthy, and great friend. She now sits at my lunch table with all of my other friends. I have made a great relationship with her that I hope never breaks. This year, I also became less shy in class. I am never bashful around my friends and family, but around teachers and people who I don't know, I am. I used to hate raising my hand. In sixth grade I raised my hand as much as a turtle wins a race against cheetahs. In the beginning of seventh grade I was the same, but over time I got more and more comfortable.
