The Immaurity In Mark Twain's The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn

In the beginning, Tom and Huck found money that robbers had hidden in a cave - enough to spilt six-thousand between them. Judge Thatcher took the money and put it out as interest so they only could get a dollar a day. Widow Douglas took Huck in as her son. Then out of the blue, Huck’s dad, Pap turned up. Huck was forced to go live with is dad because Mrs. Douglas did not want Pap hanging around. Huck sees a canoe drifting in the river, hides it in the woods and plans his escape. Some might say that Huck is a liar, but his use of deceit has a purpose - to survive. While there are many serious moments, it is Huck’s immaturity that brings adventure to the story. “I started it from the pig and dragged it to the door and through the woods down to the river and dumped it in, and down it sunk, out of sight. You could easy see that something had been dragged over the ground.” (Twain, 25) The rest of his plan included for people to “ follow that meal track to the lake and go browsing down the creek that leads out of it to find the robbers that killed me and took the things.”(Twain,25) On his time at the island he meets a woman. “She looked me all over with her shiny eyes, and says: “what might your name be?” “Sarah Williams.” (Twain,38) They talk about seeing smoke on Jackson’s island (Huckleberry and Jim’s fire pit) and she asked him if he had heard the news about Huckleberry Finn’s death. She informed him that no one could find the body. Later, in the conservation she asks what was her name again and Huckleberry made a slip up sating her name was Mary Williams. The women gave him one last time to tell the truth. (Twain,45) “Come, now -what’s your real name?” “wh-what, mum?” “what’s your real? Is it Bill, or Tom, or Bob? - or what is it? After a while they are reunited Huck plays a trick on Jim by making Jim think that them getting lost was just a dream and it didn’t really happen.
